The Fredrick M. Wehrli Educational Scholarship Fund was established by The Webb Foundation to honor its first Executive Director, Fred Wehrli, CAE, for his vision and commitment to the educational professional growth of all students in the field of electronic visual media communications.
Fred's commitment to education began when he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Pennsylvania State University. He went on to earn a Master's degree in AudioVisual Education from Boston University. For several years he taught history in the Ramapo Central School District (NY) and later became their AudioVisual Director for three years. Throughout the following thirty-one years, Fred devoted his life to nonprofit association management where he nurtured and fostered volunteer leaders in their roles as managers and producers in the communications industry and encouraged students entering the industry. In July 2000 Fred Wehrli passed away.
Scholarship Purpose
When it becomes fully endowed, the Fredrick M. Wehrli Educational Scholarship will assist students in their sophomore year who have declared a major in the field of electronic visual media communications such as Broadcasting, Cinematic Arts, Communications Arts, Electronic Media, Media Studies/Media Arts, Radio/Television/Film or Telecommunications. Students will need to meet a minimum grade point average, demonstrate financial need, and submit other written materials.
